Bitcoin UTXO Dataset

A Bitcoin UTXO dataset is a point-in-time representation of every unspent transaction output accepted by the Bitcoin network at a specific block height.

What a UTXO snapshot contains

Each unspent output is identified by the transaction ID that created it and its output index. A normalized export can also include its value in satoshis, script type, raw locking script, creation height and derived address where that conversion is unambiguous.

The snapshot represents Bitcoin's spendable state rather than the full transaction history. Outputs disappear from the set when they are spent, while newly confirmed outputs are added as blocks are accepted.

Why block provenance matters

A useful dataset must identify the exact block height and block hash used during generation. Without that reference, two exports created at different moments cannot be compared reliably.

UTXO Forge plans to publish a machine-readable manifest with every release so researchers can verify the source state, file size, record count and cryptographic checksum before importing the data.

Common uses

UTXO snapshots support blockchain research, wallet auditing, local balance systems, script-type analysis, compact membership filters and reproducible data-science workflows. They are also a practical starting point for address-balance aggregation without repeatedly querying a public explorer.

Frequently asked

Questions about bitcoin utxo dataset

Is a UTXO dataset a list of wallets?

No. It contains unspent outputs and public scripts. Addresses may be derived for standard scripts, but blockchain data does not reveal who controls them.

Does the dataset contain private keys?

No. Private keys and wallet seeds are never present on the public Bitcoin blockchain and cannot be derived from a UTXO snapshot.
